I went into King Kong with high expectations: I was a fan of the original and the trailers I'd seen for this remake were promising. Thankfully, the film pleased me overall. Naomi Watts delivers believable and empathic acting as Ann Darrow, and Jack Black suits the part of the director perfectly, even providing a bit of comic relief when necessary. A great film from Peter Jackson and a fairly loyal adaptation of the 1933 original. Be warned that Peter Jackson's trademark movie length is present once more, and the three hours feel slightly drawn out; however, Howard Shore's fantastic soundtrack and Weta Digital's impressive CGI make the hours incredibly epic, serene and melancholic towards the end.
