Good film. But overall just another Ice Age... I loved the character Buck - and thought the film had more strength with him in it. He made Ice Age 3 feel different to the others.Rate this opinion + -

Great fun with enough adult humour to keep grown ups entertained. I watched it in 3D which was a first for me outside of an IMax. I would say it was worth the extra couple on quid on the ticket as it just added a real depth to the visuals. Probably not as strong a story as the first two but made up for by the improved animation and 3D. All round I would recommend going to see this - but do pay the extra if you can and move up a dimension!Rate this opinion + -

The movie turned out to be much better than I expected, but there were a few minor nuisances. First off, if you choose to view the film in 3D - which you should unless you're missing an eye, because the film is exponentially better in three dimensions - you'll have to pay for the special glasses too.
The film uses the RealD 3D technology, which is much better than the red/cyan glasses; these glasses are clear so there's no apparent distortion in the image.
The film is great, and seems to go the way of Shrek 3 in terms of giving main characters children to rear (that seems to be all the rage in threequels, with Shrek, Pirates of the Caribbean and now Ice Age following suit). It's just a shame that some sacrifices had to be made to give all the characters a role. Sabre-toothed squirrel Scrat, still questing for acorns and possibly love, gets more on-screen time than the key character Diego, the sabre-toothed tiger. That just doesn't seem right.
By all means, go see Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs if you enjoyed the previous ones. The visuals will impress you and there are some witty moments. The glasses look dumb, even though the coloured lenses are gone, there are countless dinosaur-related anachronisms, but the film's enjoyable nevertheless.Rate this opinion + -
